Sunday & Monday: Closed

BMoA is closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, December 22, December 23, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.

  • The Bakersfield Museum of Art is located in downtown Bakersfield next to Mill Creek at Central Park.


    The main museum entrance is located on the north side of the building.
    Free Public Parking is available on the north and west side of the building.

    Visiting by Car:

    From Highway 99
    Take exit for 24 St. to Highway 178 East about 2 miles
    Turn right on Chester Ave
    Turn left on 21st St., then right on R St.
    The Museum will be on the left-hand side.

    From Highway 58
    Take Union Ave (204) North about 1.5 miles
    Turn left on 19th, then right on R St.
    The Museum will be on the right-hand side.

  • All parts of Bakersfield Museum of Art are accessible to visitors using wheelchairs and mobility equipment.

    Admission
    Accommodated BMoA docent-led tours are offered year-round for all groups with special needs. Tour requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance at bmoa.org/tours 

    Seating
    Outdoor seating can be found in BMoA’s sculpture garden year-round. Indoor seating varies per exhibition. Please call the Museum at (661) 323-7219 for current exhibition seating.

    Service Animals
    Bakersfield Museum of Art welcomes animals trained to perform specific tasks for an individual with a disability.

    Facilities
    Accessible facilities are available in all public restrooms at Bakersfield Museum of Art. 

  • Please do not touch the artwork. As a courtesy, please remain 18 inches away from the artwork at all times.

    Food and drinks may not be carried into the gallery spaces.

    Backpacks and large bags are not allowed in the galleries. Please check in your belongings with the Front Desk Assistant.

    BMoA welcomes guests to take photos for personal use unless otherwise noted. Flash photography is not permitted. Share photos of your visit on Facebook and Instagram @thebmoa #TheBMoA and on Twitter / X @bmoa.

    Smoking is not allowed in the museum.

    Free Wi-Fi is available to guests. Look for bmoa_guest on your personal wireless device.

Extended Hours: 10AM-8PM

In participation with downtown Bakersfield's First Friday events, BMoA is proud to offer complimentary admission with extended hours until 8PM.

This program is generously supported by funding from the County of Kern.


Bank of America: Museums on Us
FREE Admission

On the first Saturday of every month, Bank of America, Merrill, and Bank of America Private Bank credit or debit cardholders receive one (1) FREE ADMISSION to BMoA with eligible credit or debit card with valid photo ID.


Blue Star Museums
May 20, 2023 - September 4, 2023

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America. During the summer months, free admission is available to currently serving military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve.


Museums for All
FREE admission

Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can gain free or reduced admission to more than 300 museums throughout the United States simply by presenting their SNAP EBT card. Museums for All is a cooperative initiative between the Association of Children's Museums (ACM) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Free admission for up to four (4) individuals per EBT card.
