Prepare your workspace for easy cleanup with newspaper.
1. With a white crayon and start to draw a design (words, patterns, etc). Keep in mind the kind of design you want to make. Is it Abstract? Is it a landscape? What kind of colors will you need for your design? Just some things to keep in mind.
NOTE: Because you are drawing white on white, your drawing won’t be entirely visible until the final step. You can put it to the light to see your progress!
2. Once done with your design, pre-wet your paper by either spraying it with a spray bottle filled with water or using a paintbrush to spread water over the entire space.
3. Apply the tissue paper squares randomly for a tye-dye look or place in a planned color arrangement.
4. Once all tissue pieces are placed down, spray once more or use a paintbrush to apply more water to accelerate the “bleeding” of color.
For best results, allow the water to dry before removing the squares. You can use a blow dryer to speed this process up!
5. Remove the squares carefully. The color will have transferred onto the paper revealing your drawing and the color from the squares! Practice makes progress, see what other designs you can make with this tissue painting process.
