Supplies Needed
1 tablespoon self-rising flour
(To make self-rising flour: 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 ½ tsp baking powder, ¼ salt)
1 tablespoon salt
Food coloring (recommendation: food color gel)
Paper plate
Cotton swabs
Small mixing bowl
Approximately ½ cup of water
Take a tablespoon of the self-rising flour and pour it into the mixing bowl. Then add the tablespoon of salt. Add one teaspoon of water into the flour and salt mix until you have a creamy consistency.
Once your consistency is creamy, divide to make separate colors by adding food coloring to the mixture. Gel food coloring is encouraged.
Place on a paper plate for a disposable palette.
Use a cotton swab to apply paint. Use one swab per color.
You can paint a simple floral or cactus design (or anything). Then place in microwave for 30 seconds and enjoy!
Color: The visual sensation dependent of the reflection or absorption of light from a given surface.
Hue: Refers to the name of a color such as: red, blue, or yellow.
Texture: The surface quality of materials, either actual (tactile) or implied (visual). It is one of the elements of art.
Paint: A liquid with pigment that can be spread on a surface by using your fingers, brushes, etc.
Three-Dimensional: Having height, width, and depth. Also known as 3-D.
