Materials

Age Range: 2+

Time to Complete: 45 - 60 minutes

Supplies Needed:

  • Construction paper (foam paper, felt paper)

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Toilet paper roll

Step-By-Step


1. Cut the construction paper into semi-thin strips.

2. Place some glue at the top and bottom of each strip.

3. Then carefully place the ends on the inside of the toilet paper roll.

4. Glue strip at both ends of the roll.

5. Continue gluing the strips all around the roll until you are out or until you think it looks like the way you want it to.

6. In a different color, cut a couple of leaves.

7. Glue your ‘leaves’ at the top of the sculpture and leave to dry.

Now you have your fruit and you can place it anywhere!


Extras


Assemblage: A three-dimensional composition in which a collection of objects is unified in a sculptural work.

Form: A three-dimensional volume or the illusion of three dimensions (related to shape, which is two-dimensional); the particular characteristics of the visual elements of a work of art (as distinguished from its subject matter or content).

Organic: Refers to shapes or forms having irregular edges or to surfaces or objects resembling things existing in nature.

Sculpture: A three-dimensional work of art either in the round (to be viewed from all sides) or in bas relief (low relief in which figures protrude slightly from the background).
