Materials

Age Range: 2+

Time to Complete: 30-40 minutes

Supplies Needed

    • Paper

    • Glue

    • Paint (Acrylic, watercolor, finger paint, etc.)

    • Pom-poms

    • Plastic Bottle

      • Alternatives: Toilet roll or paper towel roll

Step-By-Step

1. Paint the palm of your hand green with a brush. Then carefully place palm on top of paper. This will create a handprint that will be the base for the cactus.

2. Towards the bottom of the handprint, paint a rectangle in any color. Then paint a square underneath the rectangle. This is the planter’s pot for the cactus. Let dry.

3. Grabbing the pom poms set aside, place a small amount of glue on pom-pom and decorate your cactus. If you do not have pom-poms, you can place a small pea size of glue, let dry and paint the small bump. These are your textured flowers.

4. Take a plastic bottle and dip in yellow paint to create your sun. Alternatively, you can use a paper towel roll and cut slits along the edge.

5. Add cactus needles with paint or a pencil. Add other details, like rays from the sun, or paint the cactus flowers, if you like.
